Job Summary
The primary focus of this position is supporting in-house cable construction and field operations teams, including in the negotiation and preparation of contracts and other legal documents, and collaborating with other in-house business units to support the deployment of advanced broadband services. Works with in-house clients and senior legal team to develop and establish legislation, regulations and company policies. Advises senior in-house attorneys and internal business units on legal matters and monitors company compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Gather relevant related information and draft, analyze, negotiate, and prepare legal documents, as assigned or as necessary with direction from senior attorneys
Provide guidance and assistance to internal clients
Assist senior attorneys in supporting various business units by assessing legal risks and providing legal solutions to business issues
Research and draft summaries of legal issues
Meet with business clients and third parties
Advise management on legal matters and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
Advise business units on matters related to applicable laws, Charter policies, statutes, regulations, and/or proposed legislation relevant to the area of business
Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations related to the Company’s business practices and for corporate entities in general
Manage claims and lawsuits involving the Company
Negotiate and draft business agreements
Coordinate and manage outside counsel as required
Work with senior attorneys to proactively identify and address key legal issues for management and in-house clients
Provide ongoing monitoring of applicable laws, regulations, and policies
Proactively grow and maintain network for potential partnership opportunities
May lead and direct the work of paralegals and administrative personnel
Perform other duties as requested
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
Knowledge and understanding of corporate law
Ability to provide information and ideas in a compelling manner both written and verbally
Demonstrated analytic, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated team and relationship-building skills Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Required Education
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school Admission to State Bar in which Attorney practices
